The Sonann Sweater is inspired by the machair landscapes of the Outer Hebrides; a beautiful fertile coastal land shaped by wind, weather and sea decorated with wild flora. The decorative motifs across the yoke and natural tones aim to reflect this distinctive natural environment.
Created for Uist Wool by Scottish designer Rebecca Duncan/Journey Through Yarn the pattern is worked top down and in the round, and includes short row shaping and i-cord edging around the wrists, body hemline and neckline.
Suggested needles - 3.25 mm/ US size 3 circular needles (40 cm/ 16”; for start of yoke & 80 cm/ 32”; end of yoke, body, and sleeves)
3 mm/ US size 2.5 (80 cm/ 32” for body; & 25-40 cm/ 10-16” for collar) for i-cord edging
